About Ancestors of Lily Elkins
The Ancestors of Lily Elkins is my effort to make it easy for family members to see their heritage. This includes surnames such as ELKINS, EDWARDS, MARSHALL, CARRICO. These families all wound up in the areas of Dickenson, Wise, Carrol and Grayson Counties in Virginia. They also were
 in Sullivan County, Tennessee.

NOTE: IF YOU ARE LOOKING AT OR RESEARCHING THE SEMMES LINE, please be aware that this line is spelled SEMMES, SIMMS, Sims, etc. For clarity in the lines, I use SEMMES. Also the CARRICO line is found as CARRICO and CARICO.

NOTE: MNU is maiden name unknown

They aren't exactly famous or infamous, but you will find the first man ever murdered in Wise County Virginia. My 3G grandfather

You will find my 1c7r, Colonel Daniel Morgan BOONE, he was sort of famous.

There are the ODELL brothers who were killed by Indians and scalped.

There is Elizabeth HAYS, granddaughter of Daniel BOONE and the first white child born in Kentucky.

Then we have my 6G aunt, Jane CARRICO said to have married the brother of the poet Thomas MOORE and then was killed by Indians

Please feel free to contact me if you have an questions, corrections or comments.

When looking at names you will find MNU which means maiden name unknown.

Even if you see a Security button to the right, you do not need to sign. You can access anything on the site without signing in. The only benefit of signing in as a family member would be that you could access date on living people. However, I DO NOT INCLUDE LIVING PEOPLEin an online tree. Also, the only way I can send you an invitation is if you are included in the tree. Since I don't include living people, I can't send one.

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.

If you see a purple box by a name, that is a DIRECT ANCESTOR, grand parents, great grandparents, 2nd great grandparents, etc.
